Since 2021 there is a new museum in Milan. The ADI Design Museum, created to enhance the entire repertoire of projects in the historic Compasso d'Oro collection. This award, born in 1954 from an idea by Gio Ponti to promote the quality of Made in Italy design, is still today the oldest and most authoritative form of recognition of Design worldwide.
The museum is managed by the ADI Compasso d'Oro Collection Foundation, established in 2001 by the ADI – Association for Industrial Design to safeguard and enhance the artefacts built in the decades of the award. It is a national cultural heritage, recognized by the Ministry of Culture as "of exceptional artistic and historical interest".
A delightful permanent exhibition to rediscover iconic elements of Italian design.
